The stars seemed to align for Lilly and Domenick to have their wedding in historic Savannah, GA. The couple love the town, and Lilly grew up visiting our coastal community. Heck, her middle name is even Savannah (at least I hope it is. That is what their invitations said). They travelled from sunny Napa Valley, California (considered by many to be a prime location for a wedding) to our beautiful Savannah for their own destination wedding. From This Day Forward Events did a fabulous job realizing Lilly and Dom’s romantic southern vision and the Harper Fowlkes House provided a perfect backdrop. It was situated perfectly on Orleans Square where the ceremony was held (only after chasing away loitering SCAD graduates which may or may not be present in the background of their ceremony photos).

Lilly was ever so subtle and elegant in her simple J Crew dress. Her shoes were kind of the star of the outfit. Beautiful yellow and ivory embroidered slippers that Lilly admitted to purchasing before the dress. Dom looked so handsome (and perhaps channeling a bit of Clark Kent) in his fitted summer blue suit. All together they looked very chic. They were so sweet together and when Domenick made Lilly laugh, she threw her head back like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. ADORABLE. This was readily seen when due to Savannah’s heat and humidity, Domenick’s ring just wouldn’t go on. It was a great moment. I couldnt’ have asked more for a couple to work with. They were easy going, and so easy to pose. I love when I can put a couple in nice light and just let them be themselves and get beautiful images. Much better than I could have with posing them. Rachel and Ben were so wonderful to work with. I have to say that my favorite shot of the day happened when the three of us were accidentally and unintentionally stranded by the last trolley transport. Ben sat on a concrete barrier, with his new bride in his lap while we waited for a ride. I quickly snapped this photo after walking away to review the day’s schedule. To me his expression epitomizes the term “stolen moment”. I hope you enjoy viewing their big day!

Lauren and Adam got married on a beautiful April Saturday at St. John Cathedral in downtown Savannah in a wonderful interfaith ceremony celebrating the heritage of each of their families. Lauren’s simple vintage inspired wedding dress seemed to perfectly reflect her down to earth nature. She really made it modern and fresh with her accessories (how about that killer necklace?). I adored the bright colors she used in her details and flowers. The monogramed vintage handkerchief bridesmaids favors were so spot on for the style of her wedding. Adam was handsome as ever, though perhaps a bit more nervous than his laid back bride.

We started the day with a “First Look” in Lafayette Square. Lauren and Adam were so sweet with each other and it really seemed to calm everyone’s nerves. One of the best reasons to do a first look with your partner, is being able to see your love for the first time that day in a private and romantic situation. I love it because not only does it free up time in the schedule for portraits, but I get to capture that emotion up close, not always easy to do during the ceremony.

Their reception was held at the Savannah Quarters Country Club and it was a fabulous indoor/outdoor event. The guests enjoyed a cocktail hour (which the bride and groom were able to attend since we had shot their portraits before the ceremony, yay first look!) followed by a delicious plated dinner. Then everyone was able to mingle into the evening, playing corn hole, air hockey, and snacking on fresh popped popcorn. Well done on a super fun wedding, Lauren and Adam, and best wishes to you in your new adventure!

Meanwhile soak up this southern treat of a wedding…. Thank you to the fabulous Shannon Christopher for backing me up on this wedding. His images were so fabulous that many are used here.

Let’s back up for a second. The beautiful girl you see here is my cousin, Meredith. Well she asked me to shoot her wedding…. in Australia…. where she lives. I leapt at my first international wedding (family counts right??) like I was Mario leaping over a venus fly trap. Following Mer and Ian’s stunning wedding in Hobart, I was to then travel for another… get this… MONTH! It was amazing, and fun, and fabulous, but I will reserve most of that gushing for the picture post that will hopefully happen here sometime in the next few weeks.

Back to Meredith and Ian. Mer was the cousin who I tortured in our youth. She’s the youngest girl you see, and her older sister and I did everything we could to make sure she knew her place in the pecking order. We locked her in closets, and got her in trouble, and put gum in her hair. Somehow Meredith survived all of this and became an incredible, beautiful, and thoughtful young woman with few resentments. There was a large gap in our relationship between childhood and adulthood because Meredith chose to spend her last few years of high school in her father’s homeland of Australia. She continued on to the University of Tasmania where she met a handsome young law student named Ian. Ian is a great kid. Smart, sweet, and loves our “Mer-Bear” with all of his being. He visited me here in Savannah while on holiday with his own cousin, and I had the opportunity to get to know (ie interrogate) him. I was impressed with his easy going personality and I knew he’d balance with Meredith well. They are a great “yin and yang” couple.

For their engagement session we decided to start by visiting the Hobart Royal Botanical Gardens. We followed that up with a casual walk through Hobart’s famous Battery Point neighborhood. I think it was a fun and romantic afternoon for Mer and Ian, and I hope they love the result!

Ok, on to the amazing-ness that was Becky and Tim’s wedding. They held it at the fabulous Tybee Wedding Chapel, which is such a wonderful and EASY venue to shoot and attend events. I really love their ability to host both the ceremony and reception at the same location. Becky did an incredible job planning details for her big day. She had a bow tie bar! A bow tie bar!!!! I totally stole one and wore it in my hair all night. I loved her hand crafted flower box favors full of chocolate. Also, her black, white, and pink table-scapes were to die for. So elegant with a good helping of fun!

After the wedding ceremony, I was able to sneak off with these guys to the Tybee lighthouse (Tim loves lighthouses, how convenient) and Fort Screven on the North end of the island. They posed like crazy and even may have possibly snuck over the fence after hours for some extra shots. We headed back to the reception where the couple proceeded to host a crazy dance party, to the likes of which I rarely encounter. Well done guys, well done. A wedding for the history books!
